Since the development of the daguerreotype in 1839, photography has been ever-changing in format and context. It began as an image recorded on a glass plate, developed into film printed on paper, and now motion pictures and digital media that can be shared instantaneously around the world. It has now become entrenched and essential in communication and maintaining our social structures. The photograph documents history, shares a watchful eye on governments, and offers a medium for artistic expression. This exhibit focuses on the narratives and visions of artists and photojournalists regionally and beyond.
